BRING CHANGE 2 MIND
I hope you will take a moment to navigate through the following website. I believe the campaign was partially developed by Glen Close (she has a sister with bipolar). Like myself, their mission is to stamp out stigma. Luckily, they are reaching a much larger audience since they have the help of celebrity. I like how they use the approach of wearing the name of their disorder/association. It shows that they have no fear. We must make these words mundane in order to strip away the stereotypes and misconceptions. I hope one day to reach as many people with my message. Let's keep fighting!
This is totally awesome Amber! I left a second message on your last post. But this about the cool thing you found on this post. I totally want mental illness to become main stream. Everyone should know what bipolar, schizophrenia, OCD, etc. is. Maybe not real techincal, but enough that people don't ask me if I have a split personality disorder! I think your movie will reach lots of people. I had this idea for free P.R. for your piece. My alumni newsletter from SUNY Empire lets alumni put their achievements with a picture in a section of the newsletter. It's more of a magizne because the whole thing is REALLY huge. Anyway, I thought I could put a little blurb about how I am in your movie and maybe a picture of me and you. SUNY Empire is the largest college in New York with thirty - nine centers (sort of like campuses, but nobody lives there and there are no classrooms). And it also has a larger student body. I don't know any of the alumni because there were no classrooms, I just met with my teachers. Anyway, I thought people would read it and check out your movie! I was thinking of doing it after you entered your movie in the Canada flim festival thingy so someone in like Buffalo could go find your movie! Tell me what you think, k?

Amanda,
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great idea. Hopefully I can stick to my plan of editing the film during maternity leave:)
I hope so because the Cadanian flim festival sounds like a great idea too! Would you have to get a passport?
ReplyDeleteI think I need a passport, but I may have to send in my film and not be there to present since I have two important weddings (one which I am matron of honor) that month. But the large crowd this festival draws shows me I would be stupid not to send the film in.
ReplyDeleteAmber,
ReplyDeleteI hope you read this when you get back to blogging, but I gave you the passionate blogger's award. You can copy the picture from my blog and paste it on yours! Also you are aloud to pass it on to five other deserving bloggers. Can't wait to have you back blogging.
Hugs,
Amanda
